Project Description: A MFA Thesis Film which won the 2024 MFA Film Production Fund Grant in Columbia University. Synopsis: In the late 1990s, lonely Asian teenager Noel sets out to reunite her fractured family, tracking down her contented but estranged father in the deep desert in LA, only to realize that true connection requires respecting the individual paths each family member has chosen.

Unlike her indifferent and rebellious brothers, Noel, the only daughter, is reliable and earnest, taking on the role of a dutiful eldest child and shouldering the burden of family affairs. She felt closer to her affectionate but financially incompetent father than to her responsible yet temperamental mother. To get her family reunited, she dares to take on a trip to Arizona where her father allegedly is.

He first came to America to serve the US Army, after finishing it, he settled and started his family in the countryside of Denver. He is a husband and father of three kids, but once he lost all his savings from the failure of his business, he ran away to Arizona. Now his life seems meager, but he is satisfied with his life living in a small camper and enjoying Arizona’s comfortingly warm weather all year around.
