Although morally conflicted, his desperation intensifies with a baby on the way and mounting financial burdens. After final persuasion from the young mastermind behind the scheme, Reuben goes through with it. However, his plan unravels when he discovers his old high school friend Charlie is the victim. Torn, Reuben finds himself caught up in conversation with Charlie while covertly facilitating the theft of all Charlie's investments.
