Project Description:

An overzealous woman fends off chaotic backstage turmoil's and the materializations of her anxiety as the hour approaches on her anticipated stage performance. What defines you 22-year-old Hana Turner cannot believe that she is actually participating in one of the most anticipated shows of the year: the Darkhorse University Performance Show. As this dream comes true and starts to unfold, as do the nightmares that come with it. Weights lying around, cards flying in the air, influencers running rampant, and stuntmen falling from rafters are the least of her problems. How DirectSubmit Works
HANA TURNER | Female | African-American | Age: 18 - 26 | Role Type: Leading
The main character and leading protagonist of “Definition.”, Hana Turner is the essence of this story and the manifestation of every single theme, color, score, and character in this short. She’s energetic, ballsy, and loves to take charge when the opportunity arises. However, the one thing she can never seem to control is the main antagonist of the film itself: time. Not only has it affected her family relations and friendships, but it’s looking to control her final performance as well. It quickly becomes a race to the finish line as her mind becomes filled with darker ideologies and the “definitions” that result from it… The lead role will involve a funded studio recording cover of the song “Tangerine” by group therapy. Must be comfortable with scenes of emotional intensity, physical action, VFX, hugging, singing, and dancing choreography.

BEE WELLS | Female | African-American | Age: 18 - 26 | Role Type: Leading
The secondary protagonist and Hana’s best friend, Bee is the complete opposite of Hana. She’s shy, easily scared, and is quick to be lost in the shuffle of this ever-evolving backstage world. Bee’s a relatively silent character, but is still able to say thousands of words with just her expressions. This is a performance that is mainly devoted to facial expressions relative to lighting and mood. As her development evolves, she must muster up the words to try to save her best friend before the two become consumed by these thoughts and much lively “definitions”… The lead role will involve a funded studio recording cover of the song “Tangerine” by group therapy. Must be comfortable with scenes of emotional intensity, physical action, hugging, quick rapping, and brief dancing.
