AMIR:
Then one day, I got a phone call. I almost didn’t pick up the phone but I did. It was her daughter. Anna was dead. Anna died doing what she liked best. The unicycle. People come in and out of our lives. I guess I knew Anna as well as anybody. We worked together. And then we didn’t. We hated each other. Then we were friends. We loved each other. She was there at all the pivotal moments of my life.
I don’t know how I can continue having important moments without her. I will miss her. And I will miss the me that existed only with her. I guess I don’t see how this could happen. I guess I can’t conceive of a life without her in it. I can’t accept this. This is not okay.
