The 2017 Drama Desk Award nominations were announced today at Feinstein’s/54 Below by Javier Muñoz of Hamilton and Laura Benanti of She Loves Me. The awards ceremony will be held on June 4th at New York’s Town Hall, hosted by Michael Urie.
Topping the list this year was Broadway revival, Hello! Dolly, with a total of 10 nominations. Anastasia and Come From Away followed close behind with 9 nominations each. Both Anastasia andHello! Dolly also earned the highest nominations at the Outer Critics Circle announcements earlier this week.
It will be interesting to see the upcoming Tony Award nominations on May 2nd. Some of the biggest Tony contenders (Dear Evan Hansen) were not eligible for this year’s Drama Desk Awards and are said to do quite well at the Tony Awards. It’s sure to be an exciting season!
