PRESS RELEASE |
AnnaMaria "CC" Cardinalli was the youngest person to graduate with a Ph.D. from Notre Dame at the age of 24. Since then, she has had a very publicly successful career as a classical musician and a far more quiet career within the American military and intelligence community until Wikileaks and other sources made public some of her more shocking work.
In response to the public reaction to her findings, Casemate Publishing and Open Road Media have released her most recent book: Crossing the Wire: One Woman's Journey into the Hidden Dangers of the Afghan War--a chronicle of her extraordinary experiences, struggles, and discoveries in Afghanistan.
AnnaMaria uncovered a cyclical and culturally-embedded pattern of child abuse in Afghanistan that breeds a constant terrorist threat to the West. Not only has her work has re-calibrated both the Pentagon’s and the United Nations’ perception of the nature of the conflict we continue to face, it has shed light on human rights and social justice concerns previously unfathomed.
Perhaps the most exceptional fact about AnnaMaria, however, is that despite her contributions as an intelligence officer, she has always maintained an international performance career as an opera singer and Spanish concert guitarist. Exciting new recordings, expressing the profound patriotism of AnnaMaria’s military experience, will be released on special “dog tag” CD’s available with the book.
Proceeds from Crossing the Wire will go to benefit two important charities. First, in line with the book’s discoveries, it benefits the Polaris Project—the most successful worldwide effort to combat human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children. Secondly, it benefits Jam for Vets, which assists severely injured young patients in the VA hospital system by providing them free musical instruments and instruction, allowing them to find a voice and heal.
Having just made her operatic debut in Italy, AnnaMaria's vocal career has recently blossomed as her covert career has come to an end. A rare and true operatic contralto, she embodies the darkness and mystery of her voice type on stage. |
